Electrosonic Inc. is looking for an Onsite/Regional A/V Service Technician located in the San Diego, CA area who reports directly to the Field Service Manager.

The Onsite/Regional A/V Service Technician will work part-time to provide on-site technical, service and maintenance support for an Electrosonic client at a local venue and be available the balance of each week for regional service work, which will include some travel.  You may also participate in installations and commissioning of projects from time to time.

What you will be doing?

Onsite Support

  1. Provide first line, on-site break-fix and preventative maintenance service for client. Requires extensive troubleshooting abilities, replacing and/or repairing Audio, Video & Control systems and related equipment.
  2. Accountable for the overall customer satisfaction of the site(s).
  3. Perform routine scheduled preventive maintenance and cleaning of designated exhibits & rack room areas.
  4. Video projector lamp changes and proper disposal or recycling of lamps as required.
  5. Manage and maintain spare AV equipment and consumables inventory including management of database for customer assets, spares, consumables and repairs.
  6. Assist in training of client’s staff and new staff who typically operate these systems on daily basis.
  7. Provide technical phone support (e.g. answer questions, troubleshoot suggestions) to customer.
  8. Work closely with the Electrosonic Service Coordinator for call tickets and tracking paperwork.
  9. Provide all documentation in a timely manner (e.g. material and labor reports, preventative maintenance reports, expense reports, job costing records, timesheets etc.)
  10. Communicate effectively with the Electrosonic Managers and Service team.

Regional Support

  1. Provide emergency and preventative service calls to customer job sites. Requires troubleshooting, replacing and/or repairing video display/projection and related equipment.
  2. Install, modify and test integrated systems. Includes selecting, set up and operation of standard test equipment and interfacing between Project Manager and client.
  3. Occasionally provide technical assistance to other departments and staff, as needed.
  4. Occasionally provide weekend and evening Service support to Electrosonic customers.
  5. Demonstrate product and system capabilities to all levels of clients, including one on one situations.
  6. Arrange for product returns and/or exchanges with the service department.
  7. Provide technical phone support as necessary (e.g. answer questions, troubleshoot suggestions) to customer.
  8. Work closely with the Electrosonic Service Coordinator for assigned call numbers and close-out paperwork.
  9. Provide all documentation in a timely manner (e.g. material and labor reports, preventative maintenance reports, expense reports, job costing records, timesheets etc.)
  10. Communicate effectively with the Electrosonic Managers and Service team.
  11. Local travel to sites other than in San Diego 25%
  12. Travel away from home base including overnight stays 10%

What Experience, Skills and Attributes you will need to be successful?

  • Excellent understanding of AV systems with strong problem-solving skills and trouble-shooting experience.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Always presents a positive image of self and company.
  • Follow Electrosonic health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Must possess good communication skills, verbal and written especially when dealing with client, vendors and equipment manufacturers.
  • Computer literate e.g. Windows, MS Word, MS Excel and scheduling programs, as well as a good understanding of computer functionality.
  • Special consideration will be given to applicants with proven knowledge in:
    • Video Walls
    • Multi-projector edge-blended digital video systems
    • Computer & AV Networking
    • AV Show Control Systems such as AMX, Crestron, Medialon, Watchout
    • Computer interactive system 

What are the qualifications and other requirements?

  • Ability to read and comprehend blue prints, schematics, and training manuals.
  • Ability to operate multi-meter, oscilloscope and other related industry and test equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of programming software such as AMX and Crestron.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and on ladders & mechanical lift systems.
  • Technical degree/certificate or equivalent job experience. CTS certification a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license. Good driving record. Reliable personal transportation.
  • Must possess own hand-tools including multi-meter.
  • Must have or be able to get a passport.
